• Brian Lara is one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played the game of cricket. Born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1969, Lara first made his mark in international cricket in the early 1990s. He was known for his stylish and flamboyant batting, and his ability to score big runs. Lara’s crowning achievement came in 2004 when he broke the world record for the highest individual score in Test cricket, scoring 400 not out against England. This was an incredible feat, and one that still stands today.

Lara’s career was full of other incredible performances as well. He scored nine Test double centuries, and also had the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket before breaking it himself with his 501 not out for Warwickshire in 1994. Lara was also a successful captain, leading the West Indies to victory in the 2004 Champions Trophy. His style of play, combined with his impressive statistics, cemented his place in the pantheon of great cricketers
